As my alarm went off at 4:10am this morning I thought “ok, What is going to get me out of this warm bed so I can go hit the treadmill for 3 miles before work?”
An upcoming summer trip came to my mind as well as the Half Marathon I have coming up in 18 days.
Then I thought “I can do this”. It’s just one extra hour early and this evening I can enjoy with my family. So up and out I went.
What gets you up and going?
I have been hooked on the latest season of The Biggest Loser especially with their push to take a stand on childhood obesity. This for me is an important subject as you may know. With that being said I try to be a good role model for my daughter and encourage her to have a healthy self-image and to feel good about herself when she looks in the mirror. Lately she has been talking about “abs” so yesterday on the way home she texts me photos of our workout for the afternoon. I had asked her earlier if she wanted to go with me to the gym when I got off work and she was like “Why, when we have nature’s gym outside!”.
How perfect!! When I got home I helped her setup some “stations” as she requested and we had a fun 45 minute session outside in “Nature’s Gym”…The student has become the teacher..
35th Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic 2013 to Benefit American Heart Association -New Orleans – 3-30-13
It’s been since 2011 I have ran this race so I am quite excited to get to run it this year plus there is a new sponsor, improved course and runner corrals. This is really shaping up to be quite an event this year. In fact, I was not planning on even attending the Expo but when I heard Bart Yasso – Chief Running Officer, Runner’s World will be in attendance speaking on “How to be a better runner” I was sold. How fortunate this will be on Good Friday when I am off work that day! (whew). I mentioned to a friend that I MUST get my picture taken with Bart Yasso! We are Twitter buddies so we go way back right ??!! LOL! I wish I could get there early enough on Friday to attend his “Shake Out” run but I keep telling myself I can’t do everything. Good friends, 12k+ runners, great course (going down Poydras, through the French Quarter, passing Jackson Square, turning left on Esplanade Avenue and continuing to City Park) How could it get better?? Well I’ll tell you how.. My 13 year old daughter has stepped in for a friend that had to drop out. so Crescent City graciously transferred her entry at no charge so she will be running her 1st 10k!!!! Well I say run it will be more like a walk/jog but I told her “A Finish is a Finish” and there will be a Finisher medal waiting for her!! Considering she has not gone farther than a 5k this is HUGE for her.. She told me earlier in the year she wanted to start training for a 10k. This one was a bit sooner than expected but she is looking forward to it.
This will definitely be an EPIC weekend!!!
Why am I nervous for this one?? Different location maybe..windy.. unknown roads..
I do wish I was a bit faster going into this one but it will be a scenic run…
Lets have some good weather that Sunday please.
The video sold me on it..Take a look..
My almost 15 seconds of fame lol!! (too bad I wasnt still in costume from the 5k!!) It really was “Magical” from Start to Finish.
RunDisney video recap from Princess Half!
Hopefully I can bring Alaina to a Disney 5k one day. It was a lot of fun as well. My 1st costume race!
RunDisney video recap from Royal Family 5k
I recognized several of my Facebook/Twitter runDisney friends who made the cut onto the videos.
Dennis (Mr. runDisney TV) was quite nice in person.
I hope to go back one day for another runDisney race.
